Classified information has been stolen from an astronomer while he was on a cruise, seated at dinner, and Henry alone has the proper perspective to determine who did the stealing.

Having cruised myself more often than I would have liked, I have a certain fondness for this story, but that fondness predates my ever having set foot on board ship. Rather, what makes this story work is something that any reader of Black Widower stories should themself have realized long before making it to the end of Tales of the Black Widowers, and the fact that it is Henry who comes up with the solution is so very appropriate, all things considered. It’s a nice story, and a fitting climax to Tales of the Black Widowers.
