This is a fairly standard treatment of how we went from the idea that the universe was a hollow sphere dominated by the Earth to the big bang. (Actually, it starts with Galileo, so we skip the hollow sphere bit.) Anyway, it’s material covered so thoroughly elsewhere by Asimov for adults that there’s little interest at that end, but it remains excellent for fifth through eighth graders.
